Sudoku Dungeon

Climb down into the dungeon, one sudoku at a time.

A sudoku roguelike for people who like to think. Eight floors, three lives, a relic of your choice after every board, and no guessing, ever.

Coming to iPhone and iPad. Not on the App Store yet, and there is no release date.

Every board is solvable by reasoning

A wrong digit costs a life, so the game owes you boards where the right digit can always be worked out. It makes each board from a seed and then proves it can be finished by logic alone: it solves the board itself, step by step, using only techniques you can learn. A board that would need a guess is thrown away and made again.

Three worlds, three kinds of puzzle

The Cellar

Classic sudoku, from 6×6 up to 9×9. Moss and candlelight.

The Library

Killer sudoku: dotted cages that must add up to the sum in their corner.

The Attic

Thermometers that only rise from bulb to tip, and diagonals that hold every digit.

Finish a world to open the next. All three, with their bosses and relics →

Relics, in the open

After each board you pick one of three relics. There are 52 of them: 10 shared and 14 for each world. The three on offer come from the run’s seed, they are shown in full before you choose, and nothing costs anything. It is your choice, not a lucky draw, and there is no currency in the game.

Choosing one of three relics: Stamp, Marginalia and Slide Rule, each with its effect written out.

Made calmly

  • No advertisements, no in-app purchases, no account, no internet needed. The game collects nothing.
  • Large text, a calm mode without movement, screen reader labels.
  • English and Dutch. iPhone and iPad.
  • Two short, optional lessons with Nikkel the gnome. A daily run in every world, and an endless mode once you finish one.

Where it stands

Sudoku Dungeon is a playable prototype that has been tested by its maker and by automated checks, not yet by a crowd. It is planned as a single purchase with nothing to buy afterwards. The illustrations were made with an AI image generator and then cut, scaled and checked by hand; the screenshots show the game as it is today, captured in the iOS simulator. Nothing here is an award, a review or a player count, because there are none.
